Tony O’Connor is a Senior Counsel since 2006 who practised as a solicitor for eight years before joining the Law Library in 1991. He graduated from University College Dublin and completed his masters in Trinity College Dublin. His practice has brought him on Circuit and he practises in all of the Higher Courts now. He has been instructed in many leading cases concerning negligence by medical professionals. Mr O’Connor has acted as a legal assessor for the regulators of health professionals since 2007 and has advised on the EU and State regulation of issues falling with the remit of the HSE, the Health Products Regulatory Authority (formerly the IMB) and HIQA. He is regularly appointed as a Chairperson of Mental Health Tribunals, is a Board member of Concern Worldwide and is a member of the IRFU Age Grade Rugby committee on welfare. He is a CEDR accredited Mediator and a member of the Medicolegal Society of Ireland.
