Our Clinical Negligence conference in Edinburgh was held at the Royal College of Surgeons and provided a historic feel to the day. Chair, David Stephenson QC of Ampersand Advocates did an excellent job of keeping the speakers to our tight schedule.
The speakers were very informative and gave insightful talks into how negligence can occur. All the medical speakers reiterated the importance of listening to the patient’s story and investigating according to the story and not just the clinical signs.
The Advocates from Ampersand Advocates, Westwater Advocates and Compass Chambers gave fascinating legal updates. We finished the day with canapés, wine and a tour of the Anatomy Museum and College. The Museum, which was developed to help in the teaching of students of medicine, has one of the largest and most historic collections of surgical pathology material in the UK. We look forward to returning to Edinburgh in 2014 for Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence conferences in association with Ampersand Advocates.
